BUS DRIVER WHO VERBALLY ABUSED POLICEMAN RESIGNED, CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION

Dear A.S.S. Editor

The bus driver who shouted at a police officer Sep 27 at Jurong, has resigned and is currently under police investigation. It was reported that during the exchange, the driver used obscene language and made hand gestures as the officer was patiently trying to calm him down.

In videos that has been circulating online, the driver was clearly getting increasingly agitated as the conversation went on and he continuously yelled at the policeman. At around the 30-second mark of the video, he can be heard saying an obscene word in Hokkien. Shortly after, he used another vulgarity and was told to watch his language. Towards the end of the video, the driver started conversing with a second police officer at the scene in Mandarin. The recording then ends.

A caption on the video stated that the driver was operating a free shuttle bus that ferries passengers to NNTU. When contacted, a spokesman for the university said that he has since resigned from the transport company. "The driver is an employee of Tong Tar Transport Service Pte Ltd that provides shuttle bus services to NTU. According to Tong Tar, the driver has since resigned from the company," said the spokesman.

Police investigations are ongoing, with the driver initially investigated for a dispute with an LTA officer over how he had stopped his bus on a double yellow line.
