Fresh revelations from the Shuqun Secondary School bullying case suggests that that the 2 students who were at the receiving end of the bullying have been silently enduring the bully's actions for a long time.
According to the 38 year-old aunt of one of the boys in the video, this was not the first time her nephew had been bullied by the same boy. The aunt, who declined to be named, added that if not for the video, the bullying would have gone unnoticed.
She revealed that the boy's aunt had accompanied the boy's mother to meet Mr Chia Hai Siang, the school's principle on Wednesday afternoon, adding that her 15 year-old nephew did not feel it was safe to go back to school in the last few days since the video went viral and the school started investigations.
"My nephew is scared enough not to go back to school in the last few days. He does not feel that it is safe enough," she said.
The principal has suggested transferring the bully, who is in the same Secondary 3 class as the two victims, to another class.
She noted that her nephew, who has a few years of martial arts training, had chosen not to retaliate despite the bullying.
"I am amazed by his self-restraint. Not retaliating does not mean he is weak," she said.
The mother of the bullied boy has since lodged a police report over the bullying.
