Dear A.S.S. Editor
A director of an international headhunting firm, who is based in Hong Kong, was jailed for three months after admitting that he had grabbed a Police Officer, Staff Sergeant Ivan Chen Tianxiang's neck and punching him on the face outside Zouk on Arpil 2017.
Briton Alex Arrash Ariana, 34, was drunk when he assaulted the officer outside the nightclub at Clarke Quay. The Briton frequently travels to Singapore for work, and he was here on a wrok assignment when the assault occurred.
The altercation started when the drunk man had an argument with the security manager of the club. The team of police officers had approached him to tell him to relax, but he started to behave aggressively towards the officer. The officers then proceeded to arrest him after he started being rowdy, but that was when he struck Chen.
It took four police officers to eventually subdue him. His lawyers argued that the drunk man had started the altercation in a moment of frenzied panic. He could have been jailed for up to seven years, fined and caned for causing hurt to a policce officer in the discharge of his duties.
