Earlier today, the news reported that the government is stepping up enforcement on the use of vape in Singapore. Apparently there was a “significant increase” in cases.
They previously said that vaping is the gateway to cigarettes and underage smoking, so they have to ban it. They also say that products not regulated that’s why cannot ensure ingredients are correct and it’s dangerous. This is nonsense! The research they cite from WHO not even updated.
“Any person who contravenes the ban shall be liable to a fine not exceeding $10,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months, or both, and in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, a fine not exceeding $20,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or both.”
Vaping is not the gateway to cigarettes, it’s the other way.
I am an avid smoker but I was determined to stay off cigarettes for because my girlfriend couldn’t stand the smell. I tried nicotine patches. It didn’t work. I moved on to nicotine gum. Nope. I tried cold turkey and for the life of me, I couldn’t take the withdrawal.
My friend introduced me to vapes – it didn’t give off the same cigarette smell that people complain about, and I get the same relief I need.
To clarify, I have never sold any vapes to anyone. I am just a user, so I don’t understand why I am being punished for making sure that my environment doesn’t have the typical cigarette stench.
Vapes are banned because they are harder to tax than cigarettes.
I thought about it. It is harder for the government to impose tax and regulate every mod, juice, tank and even wires. Compare this to the simple blanket tax on every packet of cigarette.
If the government really truly believes this is about health, they would ban cigarettes and heck, they would even ban alcohol. Yet they just choose to continue receiving money from these items, but ban vapes in the name of health?
The government just wants to force all vapers to go back to cigarettes so they can resume collecting money from us.
I have always been a low profile vaper. I only vaped at home and in my office. Never in public. I’ve never sold a single mod or a bottle of juice. Why am I being punished?
