Omicron Spreading Globally But PAP Still Want VTLs With Many Countries!

Should Singapore review the number of VTLs we have with other countries, now that the Omicron variant is spreading around the world?

The new variant was first detected in South Africa and is even more infectious than Delta. What’s worst is that vaccines may not be effective against it. Some countries like Hong Kong, Australia, Denmark and Netherlands already have cases with the Omicron variant.

Meanwhile, the PAP continues to leave our legs wide open by having VTLs with many countries. By right, they have restricted travellers from South Africa but somehow, we can still find flights on the Singapore Airlines website. Why like that?

Soon, Omicron will be found in many countries we have VTLs with and it will be too late for us to stop it from coming in. A government with foresight should hurry up and limit VTLs to protect citizens. Unfortunately, the PAP is still taking its time to wait and see and monitor the situation.

How long are they going to wait before taking action? Are they going to welcome the new variant and wait until we get infected? Haven’t they learnt from past lessons? The storm is not over. By the time they do something about it, what do you think will happen to Singaporeans?
