Yesterday, Dr Chee Soon Juan made a Facebook post sharing that a kind Singaporean ordered $150 worth of food from his café Orange & Teal to distribute to the cleaning staff.
“A kind Singaporean, Ning, called Orange & Teal and paid $150 for meals, asking us to distribute them to the cleaning staff. That was her way of paying-it-forward. She explained that this would help F&B outlets at this time while also providing a nice lunch for our low-wage workers. Thanks, Ning, it’s people like you that keeps us going and makes our struggle worthwhile. “

Dr Chee then personally distributed the food to the cleaners.
Orange & Teal just opened when Singapore returned to Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) where dining-in options were not allowed until Aug 18. However, he made a promise saying that no one from his café will be losing their job. He also previously asked Singaporeans to do their “part to keep F&B joints across the island to stay afloat” by ordering or buying takeaway.
Singapore needs more generous people like Ning and Dr Chee! They are so kind and giving while the million dollar salary ministers are in their ivory towers – only giving out goodies when it’s using taxpayer money, and they give even more only during election period.
