On 22 June 2021, Progress Singapore Party’s (PSP) NCMP Leong Mun Wai accepted the challenge from Min Shanmugam to debate on CECA.
“If anyone here believes that Ceca is a problem, put it up for a motion, debate it openly and let’s hear whether Singaporeans benefit or lose from it. I’m looking at you, Mr Leong, I invite you to put up a motion to debate Ceca. You know that most of what is said about Ceca is false.”
Min Shanmugam was obviously very out of touch with the ground when he said that. So many Singaporeans have been voicing out about their hardships. From losing our jobs to all these “foreign talents”, to having these South Asians blatantly disrespect our COVID rules.
Just yesterday, PSP also shared that they have started a survey on rebalancing the labour situation in Singapore. They encourage all Singaporeans to take part in their survey so that they can hear directly from the ground.
“The #PSPJobsDebate is about your future. We want to hear your thoughts, concerns and ideas on how to rebalance Singapore’s labour situation to benefit all parties… Let’s work together to create the change we want to see.”

This is what opposition parties are for! ex-Worker’s Party chief Low Thia Khiang once said that opposition voices are like co-drivers; “A co-driver is there to slap the driver when he drives off course or when he falls asleep or drives dangerously.” It is about time someone wakes the PAP up from their CECAporean dream! It is time we put Singaporeans first!
