Another post from FB group “Indians in Singapore” circulates the internet. Earlier this year, Suresh shared that he got a job in Singapore which earns him S$7200, asking the group for their opinions and recommendations.
In response, Singh commented that the $7200 may not be enough to live comfortably.
S$7200 is an extremely high salary, were there no Singaporeans eligible for that job? Also, Singh’s profile says that he is a managing director, no wonder he thinks that $7200 is not enough. He probably rents a house in orchard or Sentosa.
This is why we need to relook at CECA. Whilst foreigners like Singh complain about how 7200 is a low salary and that it isn’t enough for comfortable living, there are many Singaporeans who are earning much less. In fact, as of January 2021, the average salary in Singapore is $5,877 per month, inclusive of the employer’s CPF contribution. This means that the take home salary is actually a lot less.
We need to be a Singapore for Singaporeans, and stop putting these ungrateful foreigners first!
