On 9 May 2021, Horn Maker Engelbert Schmid made a Facebook post sharing that he has been cheated of a horn via a credit card scam. He wrote –

Schmid is a horn soloist from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1990, he set up his own workshop which specializes in making French Horns and the business is based in Germany. Checks on his website showed that prices of the horns can range from anywhere between €4K++ (S$7K++) to €15K++ (S$24K++). From his description of the stolen horn, it would cost at least S$15K!
Some netters have pointed out that the address leads to a freight forwarder. This means that the fraudsters behind the scam may not be from Singapore, but rather it could be someone who is trying to tarnish Singapore’s name! We cannot allow this to happen without consequences!
