WP’s Leon Perera: How Much Financial Aid Given To Foreign Students By Govt?

Workers’ Party Member of Parliament, Leon Perera, has stated in his Facebook post that in the next Parliamentary sitting happening in July, he wanted to ask a question that has been preying on Singaporeans’ minds for a long time, but no one has ever got a satisfactory answer for. Perera said that he will ask the Education Minister Ong Ye Kung the amount of foreign aids that the Singapore Government provides for foreign students studying locally.

His exact wording of the question was “To ask the Minister for Education in each of the past five years, what is the total Government spending on scholarships and other forms of financial aid given to foreign students studying in Singapore schools and universities”.

If the Education Minister does reply to this question truthfully and without beating around the bush, it will make for an interesting Parliamentary session.
