AGC TO COMMENCE CONTEMPT OF COURT CHARGES AGAINST LI SHENGWU

The Attorney-General’s Chambers will proceed with contempt of court proceedings against the late Lee Kuan Yew’s grandson, US-based academic Li Shengwu, according to several unnamed sources.

According to Yahoo News Singapore, the pre-trial conference for the case is set for 13 November.

Li, who is current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s nephew, had posted on his Facebook comments which the AGC felt were intended to criticize the Singapore judiciary. Li has maintained that his remarks were targeted at the Singapore government and not the court system.

In his latest Faccebook post in late August, Li said that the AGC had admitted that he need not delete his Facebook post after he amended its phrasing.
