POPULAR COFFEE SHOP SUSPENDED A DAY FOR FAILURE TO PROVIDE SOAP IN TOILET

Dear A.S.S. Editor

A popular coffee shop located in Upper Serangoon, well known for its nasi lemak and prawn mee stalls, have been ordered by the authorities to shut down for one day for failing to provide soap in its toilet. NEA said the coffee shop accumulated 12 demerit points over a year, and thus had its licence suspended for a day on Friday.

It was given six demerit points on two occasions for failing to provide soap in the toilet. They were also fined $800 on top of the one day suspension. Located at 965-969 Upper Serangoon Road, Mee Sek houses popular establishments like Ponggol Nasi Lemak Centre and Wawa’s Lechon and Grill.

Operators of coffee shops, food courts and canteens who accumulate 12 or more demerit points during a 12-month period may have their licences suspended for up to three days, depending on their past records. Stalls operating within their premises will also have to stop operating during the time
