DON’T BE MISLED, DECISION TO START COUNTING FROM WEE KIM WEE WAS NOT BASED ON AGC’S ADVICE

Workers’ Party’s Sylvia Lim finally got to speak on the Elected Presidency in today’s Parliamentary sitting but was of course, rebutted for misunderstanding the facts.

In her speech, she said the Government misled people into thinking that the decision to start counting from Dr Wee Kim Wee was a result of the AGC’s advice, when it was in fact, not the case.

She questioned why she was told to challenge the decision judicially if it was not a legal advice in the first place. She also blamed the Government for using “ambiguous language” and for not making themselves clear.

According to her stance, the Government should not use AGC’s advice as a “distraction” but rather, emphasise its reasons for starting the count from Dr Wee Kim Wee.

Not surprisingly, she was rebutted by Minister K Shanmugam, who said she had misunderstood it and insisted the counting decision was a policy decision.
