A netizen shared his idea on how to encourage Singaporean drivers to be more courteous.
What do you think?
“With so many road etiquettes problems going on, I wish to state my point on why many motorists don’t want to give way.
Now, what would I get by giving way to another? Nothing! But just delay! At least if I get into an accident I can jack up the claim and get some monetary compensation for myself.
Secondly, if the authorities wants to encourage people to give way to one another, think if good reward scheme, not like previously the failed attempt of rewarding motorists with petrol vouchers and plush toy, both are useless!
They should come out with good rewards like if you are spotted giving way for a specific time, you will get ERP and/or road tax or COE rebates, that will definitely make motorists drive safely and give way to each other. The cost of living is so high and yet our authorities are only giving people cheap rewards.”
