IT’S NOT ABOUT HUMBLE LIVING! IF YOU’RE PRESIDENT, YOU JOLLY WELL MOVE OUT

It’s not about humble living. The role of the President comes with obligations and considerations. Security and cost are issues—this is why Americans also kpkb when Trump said he wanted to live in Trump Tower and commute to the White House. It’s not going to be easy with enhanced police presence around the block and official cars with security outriders in the HDB car park.

If she wants to be head of state, have that power and collect that salary, she jolly well take all the good and bad that goes along with the job, and that includes moving out of the jumbo flat (also, hello what humble living how many Singaporeans can afford to buy and renovate a jumbo flat that’s as big as a penthouse?!)

Also, I know it’s nice and comfortable and she’s been there 20 years and likes the neighbours, but sorry ah, that doesn’t really sway me. Ask the residents of Zhup Lao in Commonwealth, or Dakota Crescent, or the colourful blocks in Rochor—they’d been there and built ties with their neighbours for a long time too, but when it came down to “the good of the country” they all had to move.
