The Singapore Buddhist Federation expressed its grave concerns on the recent escalation of violence in Rakhine which has caused tremendous loss of human lives and properties. “We would like to appeal to all parties to the conflict to stop all acts of violence under whatever pretext.
The Federation and all Buddhist institutions have strongly supported the fund-raising effort initiated by the Islamic Council of Singapore MUIS to provide the much needed relief to the victims. We believe humanitarian consideration should transcend all man-made boundaries, be it race or religion.”
So far, more than 160,000 Rohingyas have escaped to Bangladesh to seek refuge, with more than 400 reported dead from the violence there.
