In a strongly worded letter rejecting a subsequent apology to Drama Box offered by NYC's CEO, David Chua, Kok explained that he also took issue with the framing of the NYC's engagement programme. NYC had allegedly positioned their programme in such a way that Kok felt was discriminatory against alternative families that do not fit into the normal heterosexual couple plus children norm.
