Dear All Singapore Stuff Editor,
Tan Chuan-Jin, 48, will resign as Minister for Social and Family Development to be nominated as Singapore’s 10th Speaker by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong when the House sits on Monday (Sept 11).
With his promotion to becoming the Speaker of Parliament, does that means that he will be out of the running to be the next Singapore Prime Minister. That will leaves us with Heng Swee Keat, Lawrence Wong, Ng Chee Meng, Chan Chun Singapore and Ong Ye Kung.
Desmond Lee will be taking over from Tan Chuan Jin at the helm of the Ministry of Social and Family Development. This means that it only leaves with Josephine Teo being the only Minister without portfolio.
From the resigning of Halimah Yacob, it clearly shows some clear signs of the succession planning of the PAP.
