UNFIT S’POREAN CRIES UNFAIR AFTER BEING REJECTED FOR GOVT JOB

Dear Editors,

To the Government of Singapore:

While we can understand the importance of National Service, I personally feel that citizens who are not fit to be employed by the government should be fully exempted from national service. I was labeled a PES “E’ citizen. Before my NS, I tried to apply to work for the SPF and was rejected (of course!).

However, although the government did not want to employ me, I was still liable to serve them for FREE with my National Service obligation from birth, which I did not ask for.

How is this fair? The gov, while not willing to employ an unhealthy or disabled citizen is VERY willing to MAKE them work for free!
