PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS TO GET RECOGNITION AS TEACHERS, GETS TEACHERS DAY OFF

Dear A.S.S. Editor

It has finally dawned on the authorities that the pre-school teachers should also be treated as teachers on their own right. For the first time, all early childhood educators will be getting Teachers’ Day off on Thursday this year.

The authority in charge of the Early Education sector, ECDA, stated that “This move aims to recognise and celebrate the passion and commitment of our early childhood educators to their profession”. Almost all the 1,300 childcare centres have already announced that they will be closed for Teachers’s Day on Thursday. Last year, only about 40% of childcare centres closed on Teachers’ Day.

Parents will definitely be affected by the closure, but they have been informed early to make alternative arrangements for the children. Most parents support the move to show their appreciation to the early childhood educators.
