Dear A.S.S. Editor

A 41 year old woman was knocked down by a car while crossing a road in Jurong West on Friday morning, and subsequently died in hospital. The accident occurred along Jurong West Street 42, towards Jurong West Street 52.

The woman was identified as Ms Serene Ng, who was a civil servant who was unmarried and lived with her family. She was reportedly returning home after doing volunteer work on her day off. The 27 year old male driver of the car, who was not named, has been arrested for causing death by a negligent act.

Ms Ng is believed to have been crossing the road to Block 401 when she was hit. There are no traffic crossings at that site. The nearest zebra crossing is about 100m away, while a new traffic junction is being built.
