TWO PEOPLE FINED FOR CASES OF ABUSE AND ABANDONMENT OF CATS

Dear A.S.S. Editor

Two people were fined in court for separate cases of animal abuse and pet abandonment. In the first case, Li Xiaojing was fined $6,000 for taping a stray cat with masking tape.

The AVA was alerted to the case at Ubi Avenue 1 on February 1,and Li’s identity was established after investigations. He had claimed that he taped the cat to remove it from his residence, where the cat had allegedly urinated.

The cat had the masking tape successfully removevd by a vet clinic, where it had to be anaesthetised first. It did not suffer any serious phyisical injuries.

In the second case, AVA was informed of a mixed breed cat abandoned in a pet carrier along Sumang Walk in Nov last year.Investigations subsequently revealed Noorfazanah Bte Abdul Salam, 32, to be the owner. She was fined $3,000. he had abandoned the cat as she could not afford to pay for medical fees for the cat.
