OLD UNCLE TEACHES SCHOOL BOY HOW TO LITTER FROM THE BUS, NETIZEN FLICKS THE FINGER @ HIM

I saw an uncle today who really didn’t know how to appreciate what he has or to act graciously. I don’t want to overgeneralise, but after this incident it’s quite hard to contain my vitriol.

I was taking a bus on my morning commute to school, and I was beside the exit door by the card reader. The seats by the door had an old uncle, around 70-80 years old, and a Sec 1/2 kid. While preparing to alight, the uncle nudged the student beside him, and told him (in Chinese) that “If you want to throw rubbish, you don’t have to get off the bus, just wait for the doors to open and throw it out.”

When the doors opened, he bent over slightly, and aimed HIS GODDAMNED USED TISSUE PAPER OUT OF THE DOOR. I was getting off the bus, so I walked out, took the tissue, gave him the finger, and walked to the nearest rubbish bin.

I was quite pissed at his behaviour, since all buses have that tiny little trash bin beside the card reader. Instead of throwing it as he alights, he chose to litter and expected others to pick up for him. I think that his inconsiderate behaviour is further compounded when he decided to encourage students to follow in his footsteps. I know that this isn’t reflective of Singapore, but it’s disheartening to see some of these acts carried out every other day.
