HIGH COURT: AGC MAY PROCEED WITH CONTEMPT OF COURT CHARGE AGAINST LI SHENGWU

The High Court has given the green light for the Attonery-General’s Chambers (AGC) to proceed with contempt of court proceedings against Li Shengwu, the son of Lee Hsien Yang and the nephew of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The 32 year-old Li is currently overseas as he claims he is seeking shelter from alleged fears that he might be detained by the authorities in Singapore.

The AGC has until 4 September to file the papers for the proceedings.

Li got into trouble with the AGC following a Facebook post which allegedly critcized the court system in Singapore for being “pliant”, adding that foreign media had been cowed into self-censorship because of previous legal action.
