The man who trashed a Bak Kut Teh stall at Balestier Road was allegedly drunk and enraged by a waitress who could not understand Hokkien.
A video dated 19 August of one of the men, who was caught throwing utensils, a chair and smashing a bun steamer, was shared by the Bqalestier Bak Kut Teh’s (Kian Lian) Facebook.
Upon hearing that his stall was being destroyed, the owner of the stall rushed down immediately to help his staff, who told him that there were 4 men in their 40s to 60s, all of whom reeked of alcohol.
The staff told the owner that the men had arrived while the staff attended to them, but then they flew into a rage barely seconds after they arrived. According to a reporters, one of the men had tried to converse with a waitress in Hokkien but she could not understand him, which prompted his outburst.
Police investigations are ongoing.
