70 YR OLD WOMAN DIED GETTING RUN OVER BY BUS, WAS ON THE WAY TO WORK

A 70 year old woman was killed in an accident along Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, when she was knocked down by an SMRT bus on Saturday morning. Based on reports, the woman was knocked down outside the AMK Hub, and got trapped under the bus. The woman was apparently on her way to work at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where she worked as a cleaner.

The late Mariam Atom was pronounced dead by paramedics at 6.41am at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 8 and Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3, after she was extricated from under the SMRT bus. Madam Mariam leaves behind a son, four grandchildren, and a husband who is wheelchair-bound.

The 65-year-old bus driver has been arrested for causing death by a negligent act. Police investigations are still ongoing.
