Dear A.S.S. Editor
A man who punched his own sister and verbally abused his own father and police officers while drunk has been sentenced to 18 months and 2 weeks jail.
The unemployed man, Tan Hiang Hock, 46, committed the series of offences in April and May when he was drunk. On two occasions in April, he shouted Hokkien vulgarities at his 71 year old father, and even punched him once on the neck. And on May 1, he was drunk again, and started hurling abuse at his father, and continued to quarrel with his sister, whom he then punched. The sister fell to the ground, and Tan continued to rain punches on her. The sister suffered a a fracture near her cheekbones
His drunken antics continued throughout the month of May, when he verbally abused police officers who tried to help him when he was found drunk at an open area, and also threatening to burn down a clinic on another occasion. He was finally arrested after that. On all the occasions, the man was drunk.
