A Uber driver shared an unfair fare review by Uber, which left him earning only $4.80 from a ride from Pasir Ris to Boon Lay that should have paid him at least $25!
According to the Uber driver, Vincent, he had picked 3 full-time national servicemen at White Sands Mall in Pasir Ris who requested to be brought to Lakeside near the Chinese and Japanese Gardens near Jurong.
However, when the driver brought the NSFs to their destination, they lodged a “fare review” complaint and managed to fool Uber into thinking that the driver had taken a longer route than usual. This caused the driver to lose over $21 in fare, which reduced his total earnings for the cross island trip to $4.
Netizens who read the driver’s complaint were divided over what could have caused the “fare review”.
Some netizens complained that Uber has traditionally been harsher against its drivers than errant passengers, with others chiding Singaporeans for favoring Uber and Grab’s services than traditional taxis.
Others criticized the NSFs for taking away the earnings of their driver. A netizen wrote of the NSFs lack of integrity: “Si beh chek ark. Is this young people’s values nowadays?”
