A 12 year-old Filipino girl who committed suicide by jumping out of her Sembawang family flat had previously complained of being outcasted by her classmates and doing badly in math, says the mother of the deceased girl.
12 year-old Batuista Trizha was a hard working student and set high expectations for herself, her mother told reporters, but she had approached them many times in the past complaining that nobody wanted to be her friend.
On the date of her suicide, she said she received a message on her phone from her daughter, who informed her that she was unhappy that she had just obtained a borderline pass on her maths test.
She said that she did not suspect that her daughter would do something foolish instead.
Cedar Girls Secondary School, the school which Trizha attended, expressed their immense grief at her death.
The school told reporters that Trizha was an active part of the school’s track and field team, a polite and hard working student who gave her all in her studies and sports. School authorities will be providing support for the family of Trizha and all affected students and teachers.
