SG CHARITY COMMISSION: HOW TO SPOT REAL FROM FAKE FUND RAISERS

Singapore’s Office of the Commissioner of Charities (COC) has responded to netizens who requested for an easier way to identify fraud fund raisers in Singapore.

According to the COC, members of the public can check on whether a fund raiser is legitimate by asking for a valid House to House or Street Collections License.

When they receive the document from the collector, they can perform a search on the Charity Portal (https://www.charities.gov.sg), NCSS website (https://www.ncss.gov.sg/ Fund-Raising-Permits.aspx) or SPF website (https://www.police.gov.sg). Alternatively, they can use the [email protected] smartphone application to do the same.

Valid collectors working for legitimate organizations will have their details reflected in those websites or in the [email protected] app.
