FRENCHMAN JAILED FOR SMASHING GLASS ON MAN’S HEAD

Dear A.S.S. Editor

A French man, who was a company managing director, had been jailed for three weeks after he pleaded guilty for smashing a glass against a man’s head in a pub after the victim chided him for trying to steal other patrons’ drinks.

The victim, a Briton, Sam Joseph Chapman, 28, later received 12 stitches behind his left ear. Franck Louis Maurice Peltier, 51, pleaded guilty to causing hurt to Mr Chapman at the Employees Only pub in Amoy Street at around 12.20am on Dec 22 last year. Peltier used to work for financial data management company Asset Control. Based on reports, he was made redundant at the company in January this year. Peltier was also accused of outraging the modesty of a woman at the same nighspot just 20 minutes before he smashed the glass on the victim.

Peltier had gone to the bar at around 11pm on Dec 21 last year to celebrate after winning a contract. He bought drinks for some of the other patrons, including Mr Chapman. However, he was observed to be flirting with other patrons and used an extended straw to fish out drinks from others at the bar counter. Peltier tried the stunt on the victim, but the victim threw the straw across the bar, and was chided for his bahaviour. When the victim turned away from him, Peltier grabbed a glass from the bar counter and smashed it against his head. He also punched Mr Chapman, causing him to fall forward. The Briton did not retaliate and the police were notified.
