VIRAL VIDEO OF BOY BEATEN UP IN MADRASAH NOT FROM SINGAPORE

News reports have confirmed that the viral video of a young Madrasah school boy being beaten up by a gang of other school boys is not from Singapore.

The 2 minute clip, which has been circulated on WhatsApp and other social media pages shows a young boy being beaten, slapped, punched, choked and having objects thrown and slammed onto him by other members of his school. The post has gone viral especially because of the viciousness of the beating suffered by the victim.

Malaysian state police commissioner Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun confirmed that the clip was taken in a religious school in Putatan, Sabah.

The victim had received a beating because he had allegedly teased the aggressor about his deceased father. The incident took place on 30 August.

The Malaysian Education Ministry is looking into the case.
