Dear A.S.S. Editor
To keep up with the times and the fast changing landscape of today, even hawker business are now no longer a simple get a shop, set up a shop and pray the shop is profitable.
Twenty five aspiring hawkers have now gone back to school to learn how to manage a hawker business, which includes how to source for suppliers and formulate a business plan. This group was among the first of three Introduction to Managing a Hawker Business lessons, organised by NEA and ITE.
The course forms part of the government’s push to provide appropriate practice-oriented training programmes for aspiring hawkers.
So remember the next time you see a hawker. Even they have to go for courses to upgrade themselves. Hawkers are also now big businesses, and no longer the hawker business of old.
