SMRT GETTING WORSE, ANNOUNCES WRONG STATION NAMES FOR SIMEI & TANAH MERAH

A netizen who took the MRT train from Pasir Ris bound for City Hall was left perplexed and disappointed today when she heard the names of Simei and Tanah Merah station being mixed up in the train’s in-cabin announcements.

The incident took place on the west bound train from Pasir Ris to City Hall today at about 8AM.

According to the netizen, the announcements for Simei station were read as “Tampines Station”, while Tanah Merah Station was announced as “Simei Station”. The netizen said that she felt extremely embarrassed when a number of foreigners who were also on the same train started looking confused and even had a good laugh about the service standards in Singapore’s transport.

The netizen wrote: “If I’m not wrong, they keep on saying their engineer is doing to update it better. What a shame! This is not the first time.”
