The Building and Construction Authority has ordered for the overhead bridge at Balestier Rd to be removed immediately after an trailer rammed into it last night.
“BCA engineers who responded to the incident found the bridge to be in a dangerous condition: the impact of the collision damaged the bridge, resulting in one end of the bridge beam being dislodged from the central support”.
It consulted a professional engineer who advised to remove the entire bridge. Part of Balestier Rd was closed while people were carrying out works but the road has since been reopened to traffic this morning.
