Dear A.S.S. Editor
A primary school teacher who recorded videos of his female colleagues and others on more than 40 occasions was jailed for 24 weeks on Friday. Wong Loo Wah, 33, faced 47 charges but pleaded guilty to six counts of intruding and attempting to intrude into the privacy of a woman. When he was arrested on Dec 8, 2015, police found 1,879 obscene videos and 765 obscene photographs in his mobile phone, laptops and portable hard disk.
Another recent news of a teacher at a primary school here has been caught on camera taking what appeared to be an upskirt video of a commuter in an MRT train. A police report has since been lodged against the teacher, who has been put on leave. The video, posted online late last week, has been shared widely. Netizens later linked it to a man who teaches at Xinmin Primary School. The school in Hougang confirmed on Monday (July 17) that one of its teachers is currently undergoing police investigations for allegedly taking an upskirt video of a female commuter with his mobile phone. The teacher was posted to the school in June last year.
After this two incidents, many will questioned on what is happening to our educators in Singapore and are this just tip of the iceberg. Will the government relook on how are they recruiting their teachers.
