S’PORE’S TRANSPORT MINISTER HAS BEEN FOUND, GAVE STATEMENT ON MRT LINES THAT DID NOT BREAKDOWN

After a hiatus of almost a month since the start of the Aidilfitri celebrations in June, Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan has finally been found, this after he made a statement congratulating the Circle Lines and the Sengkang-Punggol LRT lines for not breaking down.

He wrote in his Facebook post yesterday at 7.27PM: “While public attention was on the teething problems of the North-South Line re-signalling project, our colleagues in the other lines press on with their efforts to raise rail reliability. For example, #CircleLine (CCL) and Sengkang-Punggol #LRT (#SPLRT) have successfully crossed the 250-day and-150 day milestones. I met them, over nasi lemak and durians, to thank them for their hard work.”

Pro-PAP netizens who saw his comments were quick to congratulate him on his return, with his usual supporters showering him with glowing comments on his job well done.

However, other Singaporeans were more circumspect about his return.

One netizen wrote: “Siao lah, jinx come out liao. Circle line & sengkang punggol LRT breakdown coming soon.”

He refers to the uncanny coincidence which usually sees MRT lines breaking down soon after Khaw Boon Wan makes any statement about a particular MRT line.

Other netizens echoed his sentiments, with some warning others not to take the Circle and Sengkang-Punggol lines for the time being in case they broke down.

Other netizens were perhaps more forgiving.

As one netizen wrote: “Show face only when there’s milestone to celebrate. When there’s a problem, dunno hide where liao.”

I frankly feel that such behaviour is not only unethical and uncalled for but also embarrasses Singapore’s hawker culture.
