WHY WAS OR KIM PEOW AWARDED ANOTHER TENDER WHILE UNDER LTA INVESTIGATION FOR WORKER DEATH?

Dear Editors,

If Or Kim Peow Construction was already under LTA investigation for safety violations after a worker of their died, why was Or Kim Peow awarded the tender when there were other capable companies who bid for the job?

Shouldn’t there be punitive action taken while a company is being investigated? How can a company who flouts safety rules be seen as being rewarded with a huge contract when their safety record is poor?

What kind of message does it send to other contractors? Safety is not as important as price during a tender?
