MISS SINGAPORE BEAUTY PAGEANT CONTESTANT RESPONDS TO MEAN REMARKS ONLINE

One of the contestants participating in this year's Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant has come forward to share her view on being labelled "ugly" and assaulted with numerous other negative comments online after a group photo of the contestants went viral online.

According to the contestant, Kai Ling, the comments, though hurtful and insensitive, would not get her down or discourage her from pursuing her passion.

She shared that since her uncle passed on from cancer in March this year, she has realized that life is "too short & unpredictable". She did not want to live a "life with regrets" and decided to participate in the pageant even though she was often teased for being too thin and suffered from low esteem.
