Prominent media and sports personality Jose Raymond has broken silence over the disparaging treatment afforded to national athletes in Singapore!
According to Mr Jose, the claim by DPM Teo Chee Hean in parliament (4 July 2017) that all Singaporeans are "sons and daughters" of Mr Lee Kuan Yew does not hold true for national athletes representing the country, who are given substandard insurance coverage when they represent Singapore in international sports.
Mr Jose added that there was an incident where "a government agency" had to fork out money from its "contingency fund aka taxpayers money to cover a national athlete's insurance claim, all because there was a cap for claims at $8,000 from the insurer."
He stated that he announced his displeasure over the incident to bring a "policy perspective" to Sport Singapore to consider in future when it comes to protecting Singapore's national athletes. He added that the sports body should "treat them like you would if they were your own children."
Our government want to promote our UNESCO food culture but fail to truly help stall owners. Why can't they reduce costs or lessen their burden? Why is it so difficult?
