MAN FLEW TO SG JUST TO STEAL MONEY, ALMOST GOT AWAY WITH $34,000

A 55 year old man flew from Hong Kong to Singapore so that he can steal from one of the offices here. He managed to break into an office in Clementi Loop which had a large 50kg safe before successfully cracking it open with drills and a saw. He almost got away with almost $34,000 in cash but was later arrested. He faces up to 4 years 3 months’ jail.

The man has a habit of stealing in Singapore. Since 2006, he would target offices in Clementi and Henderson areas, for instance, and has stolen up to $90,000. He will usually break in on weekends or public holidays and use the same technique to crack open safes.
