MALAYSIA SUPERSTAR: LKY INSULTED SG WOMEN IN FRONT OF FORMER US PRESIDENT

Michelle Yeoh was at a recent press conference when she told reporters about this little known encounter between herself and Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Both the actress and the late Singaporean statesman were attending a conference at the Clinton Global Initiative when he turned around and told Mr Bill Clinton and herself, “oh no, Singapore women should stop having so much independence because they’re not having kids,” said the 54 year-old Malaysian actress. The topic had been on the changing nature of family values in the world.

“And I remember Mr [former US president Bill] Clinton sitting there looking at him like, ‘I don’t believe he just said that! If I said that, Hilary would have my head!’ Times have changed, and I think both genders have changed too. At the end of the day, you have to do what you’re comfortable with,” she added with a chuckle.

Ms Yeoh was in Singapore last month for 2 weeks worth of filming for her new film, “Crazy Rich Asians”.
