MAN TRIES TO SET HIMSELF ON FIRE BECAUSE OF LOAN SHARK HARASSMENT

A 48 year-old Singapre man nearly set himself ablaze last night after he succumbed to the pressure of loan shark harassment.

According to eye witnesses, the man was acting suspiciously under Block 239, Compassvale Walk in Sengkang last night at about 8PM. He was carrying a container of flammable oil, a knife and a lighter.

A young man, who is believed to be the old man’s son, was seen begging his father on his knees to try and persuade the older man to give up his plan. Both men were crying and shouting at each other over what sounded like problems with money and loan sharks.

Police arrived moments later and arrested the older man for attempting to commit suicide.

Police investigations are underway.
