MRT DELAYS ALONG NS LINE AGAIN. IS THIS HOW WE CELEBRATE NS50?

Netizens are in an uproar again today as the MRT trains along the North South Line experienced yet another delay this morning between 6 to 9AM. This is the 4th day of delays for the aging MRT train system in Singapore.

Those caught in the breakdown have been providing live updates on the situation since 6.13AM. A commuter in the train heading from Woodlands to Ang Mo Kio was among the first to post online about the delay, adding that an announcement on the MRT train that he boarded had informed commuters of a 10 minute delay in travel time.

Other netizens were quick to point out the irony of a train breakdown today. SMRT had been advertising a day of unlimited free rides on 30 June for national servicemen who wear their uniform in celebration of NS50, a commemoration event for those who are serving or have served national service.
