In February 2017, A&W announced that it is growing its outlets for the first time in 10 years.

Singaporeans best remember A&W for its root beer float, twister fries, waffle ice cream and for those who are old enough to remember, having a branch on a floating ship at Sentosa.

Following a disastrous run in the past decade, A&W has revamped itself by focusing on quality control. They started making root beer in-house again and offering fresh foods to customers in favor of frozen foods.

Sales for standalone A&W stores have since seen an increase of 28%. In 2016, A&W opened 15 US and 21 international stores. Now in 2017, the A&W chain plans to open 20 A&W stores in the US and another 25 internationally.
