MALAY MAN JAILED FOR ROBBING INDIAN NATIONAL OF $350 MOBILE PHONE

Dear A.S.S. Editor

A Singapore man so desperate to have a mobile phone, but cannot afford one, so what did he do? He activated his nephews to rob a mobile phone off an Indian national. One of his nephews, 29 year old Mohammed Hanafiah Jumahat was sentenced to three years jail and minimum 12 strokes of the cane.

Hanafiah was part of group of three that included his cousin Mohamad Hafiz Juma’at, 37 and uncle, Sani Chabar, 49, who robbed an Indian national of his $350 mobile phone last year. Hanafiah was also found with a knuckleduster at the Police Cantonment Complex on June 7 last year. Sani had gone to Hafiz’s flat in Dec last year, complaining about having no mobile phone. The two of them then met Hanafiah, and a plan was hatched by the trio to rob someone of his mobile phone.

The unfortunate victim, Mr Muthu Suresh, 33, was spotted by the trio using his Asus Zenfone 2 mobile phone at a fitness corner near Block 324 Tah Ching Road in Taman Jurong and they decided to rob him. Sani and Hafiz had been dealt with by the courts earlier. Hanafiah is currently out on bail as his mother has to go for medical checkups. He will surrender in court on July 21.
