As an outside observer from UK. I was wondering?
The tough stance Singapore maintains on the death penalty and the high value it places on it as a deterrent, if this be so, why do many executions go unannounced ?
Great secrecy surrounds these executions and no witness’s outside the prison service attend. There are no photos of the execution chamber.
The only time the prison releases details of an execution, is if there has been some publicity generated before hand.
If the general public are oblivious to the executions, how can they have any deterrent value?
