23 Y.O. WOMAN CHARGED FOR ABANDONING PET CAT @ SEMBAWANG HDB STAIRCASE

23 year-old Ilya Natassia Abdul Manaf has been fined $2,500 for abandoning her pet cat at a staircase landing in a Housing & Development Board block located at Canberra Road. She admitted to getting rid of the cat after a “family conflict”.

The cat was first discovered on 10 January after a member of the public made a report to the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA). The cat has been cared for by a fosterer while investigations into the abandonment case were underway.

Individuals who abandon their pets are liable to a maximum fine of S$10,000 and/or 12 months’ jail for first convictions.
