Dear A.S.S. Editor
Second Defence Minister Ong Ye Kung has openly said that the participant who came up tops in a cyber security camp organised by the Defence Science and Technology Agency could be headhunted to serve their national service as a new vocation as “cyber defenders” in the Singapore Armed Forces.
The authorities will place a stringent selection process in order for National Servicemen to be able to join the cyber security team. Minister Ong said that this vocation is very socialized and targeted, as well as very demanding much like how commandos and naval divers are selected.
Maybe one problem they will face is that these cyber security squad may focus less on the physical side of their NS stint, while focus will be more on the mental side. Will that be a boring stint serving NS, or be seen as an elite vocation to aim for?
