SINGAPORE NOW CHEAPER FOR FTS DUE TO WEAKENING S’PORE DOLLAR

Singapore’s cost of living has fallen for expatriates living here, says a report by ECA International.

According to the report, Singapore now ranks 24th in the list of locations most expensive for expats, as compared to 18th last year. This is the first time Singapore has fallen out of the 20 top ranking position.

The survey takes into account a basket of goods and services, including food, household items, general services and necessities, but excludes costs such as rental, utilities, car purchases and school fees.

Analysts attributed the fall to the weakening of the Singapore dollar last year, which made the cost of living cheaper relative to other countries.
